First fish of 2019

I caught fish #1 and fish #2 for 2019 Saturday at the Michigan Carp Anglers spring fish in at Lake Erie.

My biggest was 22# and the second fish was an upper teener that I did not weigh. I didn't get good pics of the first fish (mat shot and release video).

I had the day off on Monday, so I went carp fishing. Here are a few of the pictures.

It wasn't my best day of fall fishing by a long margin, but it was successful. Catching is better than just fishing any and all days of the year.

That got me thinking. If a product catches a small fish, maybe we should attribute the product for those too.

Early Evening Bite

I've noticed carp feed more than normal just before sunset.

This fish was caught on the hottest, most humid day of the summer. Temperatures were in the mid-90's with high humidity and no shade.

But the fishing made it worthwhile.

First of all, you are probably wondering about ghost carp and what makes them "ghostly".

Here's an explanation from Farnham Angling Society:

Ghost carp are a hybrid and usually result from breeding mirror carp or common carp with Ogon Koi.

I can now check Ghostie off my list.

First Fall Session

Summer is over and the weather is turning cooler in Michigan. With highs in the upper 60's yesterday it was perfect fishing weather for me.

I tried a new fishing spot this afternoon and it worked out well.

Here are some pictures, but there were many more fish caught.

I ended with more than 10 fish. I actually lost count.
